•Maintain visibility with your superior. Present your work clearly and reveal the effort behind your accomplishments. Always loop in your superior via any mail communications and ensure any verbal or phone message related work conversations should be summarised and mailed back with your superior in the loop. This will create a trail of emails that can be recalled at will to serve as testimony of your work
•Though some people find it easier to communicate casually or socially, some are more reserved and often, colleagues do not have the same interests(gambling, smoking, video games, multi-level marketing, drinking, sports) Be smart on how to establish professional relations with your colleagues. Keep the conversation revolving around work and work related topics. Avoid political or religious statements and avoid engaging in office politics. There will be a time and place for office politics but definitely not in your first year. Be aware of office politics and reserve comment against matters such as annual increments, bonuses, leave days, company policies, colleague performance and management methods unless you absolutely have to. Even then, when pressed for an answer, be non-committal and smile it off. Not every question deserves an answer and whomever is pressing you for an answer on sensitive topics is probably not supposed to be doing so anyway.
