Probation & Confirmation(2)

Keep a simple journal of your tasks completed. Show that you are organised and that you are taking the probation period seriously. Following the advice given so far, you would have set a major goal such as clearing probation, as well as minor goals – identify org chart, self-education, identifying your role and steering clear of breaching rules. When your confirmation hearing is up, you may present the journal of your tasks in a summarised format to reveal how much value you have added to the organisation since day 1. It is always better to have analytics to present during the hearing. Once again, as a new hire, there may not have been much value added to the organisation directly by you, but the attitude of someone who tracks their tasks, and is able to summarise their value, plus sticks to the rules, is aware of the organisational chart and really understands, inhabits and attempt to progress in their role will appear invaluable to the evaluator

During your probation, it is always better to stay close with the rest of the probationers. Keep in mind, that this batch of probationers will eventually become the next batch of junior executives. They will be spread out in different teams and your relationships with them will help you be aware of what’s going on in different areas throughout the company. Situational awareness like that can help you see opportunities across different teams. As a new hire, if you feel you are not well suited to your current role, knowing what else the company can offer will assist you in exploring your options if you really need to re-designate your role
